Dr Dai Tran
Dr Tran is a skin cancer doctor, Wollongong skin cancer clinic pimple popper and outpatient surgical Shifu. Dr Tran has been serving patients in Wollongong for over 10 years. Previously practicing for 7 years at Illawarra dermatology and laser clinic with Dr Robert Salmon, who has now retired; after serving the community for 35+ years ! Dr Tran’s work, now, is primarily in surgical disease of the skin. Dr Tran has substantial surgical dermatology and out-patient reconstructive surgery experience.
Dr Tran has a University degree in Masters of medicine in the discipline of skin cancer medicine, diploma in practical dermatology, fellow skin cancer college of Australasia and is also a fellow of the royal college of general practice.
Dr Tran was a reviewer for the British journal of dermatology in the field of photo dynamic therapy for the treatment of pre-cancerous sun spots. He has also published dermatology papers in dermatology medical journals relating to skin cancer:
- Photodynamic therapy in the treatment of solar keratosis (pre-cancerous lesions) in the Australasian journal of dermatology
- Sunscreens in the Australasian journal of dermatology.
- Techniques in sclerotherapy (vein injection, avoiding intra-arterial injection of sclerosant)

- Practice tips for primary care physicians in Australian journal of Family physicians
He was a foundation member of the skin cancer society of Australasia, whose aim is to teach skin cancer management to doctors and nurses. Hence, demystify and bring accessible skin cancer care to all Australians. Skin cancer management is now vastly different and much improved than was 10 years ago !
